Short day – 30km dash!?

What a beautiful day after the storms had finished. After the rest day people were keen to get back out on the desert tracks and there were some competitors keen to make a mark on the board. James, one of the younger guys had gone out really hard on the very muddy day and did well to stay away for 21km until four of us caught him. He did the same thing again on the 30km day and managed to stay away to take the victory in 2hrs57. It was a very tough course along lots of sand dunes so a great result for him. Elisabet very nearly caught him ams took 2nd in 2hrs59, Andy DuBois in 3.01 and me in 3.04. This left me with a 22min leaf over Andy as first male before going into the final and long day. I was about half an hour behind Elisabet but didn’t expect that to feature in the rest of the race.
